In this continent, mobile data will grow 2000% by 2019

New report predicts an explosion in Sub-Saharan Africa usage.

Africa has been much heralded as the “next big thing” in big data revolution, a largely untapped market.

Afro tech-optimists say it presents numerous opportunities for business and government as the middle class grows and technology drives the continent leapfrog into a digital nirvana.

A just-launched report by Ericsson predicts that in the next five years, voice call traffic in Sub-Saharan Africa will double, and there will be an explosion in mobile data with usage in Sub-Saharan Africa growing 20 times between 2013 and 2019 - twice the anticipated global expansion.

By 2019 the report predicts that 75% of mobile subscriptions will be internet inclusive (3G or 4G).
