Zimbabwe vice president’s wife robbed by fake South African police, says news agency

The thieves were armed with a pistol and knives and used a fake police identification card to stop the vehicle.

FAKE police officers in South Africa last week robbed the wife of Zimbabwean Vice President Phlekezela Mphoko of goods worth about 1 million rand ($82,356), the Johannesburg-based Independent Online (IOL) news agency reported, citing police spokesman Lungelo Dlamini.

Mphoko’s wife, Laurinda, lost a Cartier watch, a ruby and diamond ring, cash and mobile phones after four men masquerading as police officers stopped them at a busy intersection in northern Johannesburg, IOL reported.

The thieves were armed with a pistol and knives and used a fake police identification card to stop the vehicle, the news agency said.
