ON Wednesday, Twitter users started posting pictures of a mislabeled map that was broadcast by CNN. In a map shown on screen during a report on the spreading of the Ebola disease, CNN mistakenly identified Niger as Nigeria.
Multiple viewers caught CNN’s error and took to Twitter to ridicule the cable news outlet’s misplacement of the world’s 7th most populous country
The confusion also provoked angry reactions from many users, who perceived the recent Nigeria-Niger confusion as just another example of ignorance by Western media outlets.
Niger, which borders Nigeria to the north, is a landlocked country with approximately 1/10th of Nigeria’s population..
