Pilot fined for stripping at Zimbabwe airport

SAA aviator blows his top at beeping metal detector

Ever gotten frustrated with all of the security checks at airports? You’re not alone.

A South African Airways pilot was briefly detained and fined at Zimbabwe’s main airport after he stripped to his undergarments in protest against the beeping metal detector at the security check.

Shortly before piloting the South African Airways Flight 025 bound for Johannesburg, Captain Ginkel caused quite a stir at Harare International Airport. A five hour one.

He was asked by authorities to remove his shoes and then belt after the detector continued bleeping.

Infuriated, the pilot undressed to his undergarments in protest. Security officials arrested the pilot over public indecency and he was subsequently fined before being deported back to South Africa.
